SUMMARY:The Austin Entrepreneurship Program Fireside Chat
DESCRIPTION:Tetra Tech’s mission is to be ‘the premier worldwide consul
 ting and engineering firm’. They seek clear sustainable solutions that im
 prove the quality of life. They take this responsibility seriously\nbecause
  Tetra Tech's work often places them at the center of their clients' challe
 nges regarding environment\, safety\, and sustainability. Dr. Michael J. Un
 gs\, our third Austin Fellow is a Ground\nWater Pollution engineer at Tetra
  Tech. He is fascinated by the mathematical process of describing how thing
 s function and how to apply that mathematical process to real-life issues. 
 Influenced by\nthe Apollo Program\, Dr. Ungs attended the University of Was
 hington to study Aeronautics and Astronautics. He continued his career as a
  graduate student at Princeton\, earning a master’s degree in\nMechanical
  and Aerospace Engineering and specializing in Guidance Control Theory of S
 pacecraft. However\, mass industry lay-offs coupled with a childhood spent 
 on a family farm sent Dr. Ungs back to\nschool to pursue a PhD in Forestry 
 Physiology at Oregon State University. At OSU\, Dr. Ungs studied the mathem
 atical and mechanical aspect of forestry and nature. Upon graduating from O
 regon State\nUniversity\, Dr. Ungs continued his research in Brazil\, study
 ing ground water pollution. A downturn in the Brazilian economy sent Dr. Un
 gs’s family back the States and in 1982 he joined Tetra Tech.
