SUMMARY:Discover Your Teaching Philosophy
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will be of particular interest to faculty and gra
 duate teaching assistants preparing a teaching portfolio and who wish to cr
 eate a statement of their teaching philosophy. All faculty\nand GTAs who te
 ach\, hold assumptions about what it means to teach. Ask a dozen instructor
 s and you will hear a range of answers that describe guiding\, facilitating
 \, telling\, showing\, planning\,\nhelping\, directing and so forth. The an
 swers one gives\, tell you something about each person’s “perspective
  or philosophy of teaching. Dr. Saunders will introduce Professor Daniel P
 ratt’s Teaching\nPerspectives Inventory. As one of Canada’s leading edu
 cators in the field of adult education\, Professor Pratt spent years resear
 ching teaching perspectives (philosophies) on several continents.\nAttendee
 s will have an opportunity to take Professor Pratt’s Teaching Perspective
 s Inventory and receive a print out of the results. Each perspective will b
 e explored. Faculty and GTAs will come away\nfrom this workshop with a conc
 ise statement of their own teaching philosophy. Attendees are encouraged to
