SUMMARY:Weeds in an Uncertain Climate: A Preliminary Overview
DESCRIPTION:While there are a number of crop plants that could respond posi
tively to increased carbon dioxide (i.e. increased growth\, yield)\, there
are also a number of other plants that could negatively impact\nhuman socie
ty. Potential impacts reside in three general areas: (1) weed/crop interact
ions\, crop losses and herbicide use\; (2) Probable changes in the range an
d distribution of invasive weeds\, and\;\n(3) weeds and public health. Thes
e data are far from complete\, but should provide a broad overview of curre
nt issues\, areas of uncertainty\, and adaptation measures to be taken by t
 he agricultural\ncommunity.
