Mentored Summer Research & Extension Experience for Undergrads (REEU) Opportunity

Training the Next Generation in Digital Manufacturing and Mass-Timber Buildings

Thursday, March 15, 2018 (All Day Event)

Employers are looking for recent graduates with hands-on experience. Undergraduate research and participation in outreach and extension programs impress future employers and help you improve your critical-thinking and problem solving skills.  This REEU opportunity is offered by theDepartment of Wood Science & Engineering, with support from the US Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s Education & Literacy Initiative.

This is a 12-week mentored research and/or extension experience for up to ten undergraduate students per year, and will be available during summers of 2018, 2019 and 2020. Your focus can be on just about any subject that interests you within the  broad field of digital manufacturing and mass timber, such as:

  • mass timber manufacturing
  • structural engineering
  • architecture
  • connections
  • durability
  • composites
  • automation
  • extension
  • non-destructive evaluation

Each undergraduate will receive a stipend of $500/week and a subsistence allowance. After your experience, you’ll be invited to present your results through posters or presentations. To qualify, you must be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education during the 2017-2018 school year.
