Trust: The Core Catalyst for Collaboration

Featuring: Dave Young and Boyd Lyon

Wednesday, March 2, 2016 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM

Leadership Academy Pillar: COLLABORATIVE

As a word, trust evokes powerful emotions in people, often stemming from a mixture of experience, societal standards, and individual risk sensitivities.  As a concept, trust has many colors and variations that are not well calibrated across individuals.  Despite this, trust is critical to positive human relationships and crucial to successful organizational endeavors.  In this workshop, we will point out the myths and truths associated with trust—a complex duality that provides a rich area for exploration!  Participation will dramatically increase one's awareness of how trust works in the real world, particularly in organizational (business) settings, and how the level of trust can impact probability of positive progress.

Dave Young and Boyd Lyon are both experienced business leaders who have worked around the globe. Boyd has recently retired from HP as an Operations VP and holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of California as well as an MBA from the University of Washington.  Prior to recently retiring as well, Dave served as Managing Director of a 2000 person HP Inkjet operation in Ireland that he started; he holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University as well as an MBA from the University of Washington.
