The Visiting Writers Lecture Series Presents Karen Russell

The Visiting Writers Series is hosted by the School of Writing, Literature, and Film and their MFA Program. This event is free and open to the public and followed by a Q & A and book-signing.

Karen Russell is the author of two collections of short stories, St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves and Vampires in the Lemon Grove, and two novels:  Swamplandia! and Sleep Donation. Swamplandia! was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Russell's short stories have been featured in The New Yorker, Conjunctions, Granta, Zoetrope, and The Best American Short Stories. She received her MFA from Columbia University, and was named one of the “5 under 35” young writers by the National Book Foundation.  In 2013 she was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship. Russell was a fellow at the Cullman Center (2010) and at the American Academy of Berlin (2012), and she has taught writing and literature at Columbia University (2006–2009), Williams College (2009), Bard College (2011), Bryn Mawr College (2012), and the University of Rutgers, Camden (2013).
