For the Love of Lies

Thursday, February 16, 2017 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Oregon State University Theatre’s 2016-2017 Season, Devising Our Dreams: Metamorphosis, continues with For the Love of Lies, a bold romantic comedy in the tradition of Italian Commedia dell’arte. This bawdy tale runs February 16-18 and 24-25 at 7:30 pm and February 26 at 2:00 pm on the Withycombe Main Stage, 30th and Campus Way, Corvallis.

Commedia del’arte is a wildly physical and improvisational form of theatre dating back to the Italian Renaissance that has inspired everything from Shakespeare to contemporary musical theatre. This Winter, guest director, Dan Stone will bring to life a traditional Commedia scenario filled with slapstick humor, music, mistaken identity, and love that conquers all.

For the Love of Lies follows the madcap shenanigans of vain and willful young lovers attempting to defy the odds and live happily ever after. This unique production will follow a basic plot line, but each performance will be improvised and vary from night to night. Stone remarks, “Because we have no script we are not bound by the world a of a playwright and therefore our possibilities for creation are endless and anything can happen. These performances are intended for mature audiences which include crude behavior, adult situations, bad language and most of all- poor taste.”

The talented cast of OSU and Linn-Benton students includes Ethan Baker-Hayes  (Fabrizio), Hayden Bickford (Orazio), Hannah Costa (Franchesca), Joe Cullen (Pantalone), Cheyenne Dickey (Zanni), Lindsey Esch (Arlecchino), Kelsey Farquhar (Musician), Alessandra Ferriso (Pedrolino), Cole Haenggi (Graziano), Sydney King (Flaminia), Ben Lawrence (Brighella), Thomas McKean (Capitano), Keiley Neill (Zanni), Amy Stein (Isabella), Alexandra Walchli (Musician), and Matthew Wright (Flavio).
