Earth Day Celebration at the Arboretum

Saturday, April 22, 2017 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Have you visited the Arboretum lately?

Join us at the Arboretum on Saturday, April 22 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for an Earth Day Celebration!  Volunteers Needed!!

Spring has sprung, and it's the perfect time to explore the Delbert Hunter Arboretum at Dallas City Park. Seven well-marked trails, covered in bark dust, guide you through the seven acres of native trees, shrubs, and plants. The bark dust is an excellent surface for both walkers and runners, as well as usable by wheel-chairs.

Osoberry (Indian plum), is one of the first to bloom and is very fragrant. Oregon grape, Trillium, Erythronium oregonum (fawn lily) and flowering red currant blossom next. As you wander the trails, look for signs of new growth and the soon-to-be-blooming camas, Solomon's seal, and larkspur (Delphinium consolida). Enjoy a peaceful rest at any one of the many benches along the trails, in the gazebo, or at the pond and waterfall.

Visit the kiosk at the west entrance. It is an educational and interpretive site with information about the Arboretum and the Kalapuya culture.

Dogs on leash are welcome, but we remind everyone to pick up after them.  There are doggie pick-up bags and trash receptacles at both entrances as well as the upper storage shed.   Visit soon and experience the beauty and peace of this natural place.   No experience needed. We will train you!
We meet every Tuesday from 9:00 to Noon. Coffee and snack time provided. Opportunities abound for all interests.

There is something for every Gardener at the Delbert Hunter Arboretum!
