Polk County Junior Master Gardener

Saturday, April 22, 2017 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Children in 1st - 5th grade come learn about gardening from our partner Master Gardeners!

Children 8 years and younger will need a parent to help them.

Program starts promptly at 2:00!

April 22 is Earth Day, so we thought we would celebrate!  At least three of these five activities will be included in the celebration.  (Which activities we do depend on the volunteers and the supplies.)

GROW CARD:  Make a plantable greeting card!

KNOW-AND-SHOW SOMBRERO:  Use craft supplies to decorate a hat constructed from newspaper.

MINI-GREENHOUSE:  Back by poplar demand!  Grow a salad or other vegetables in a greenhouse made from gallon milk jugs.

TENDER TRANSPLANTS:  Come decorate a pot, then transplant a young flower or vegetable of your choice.

PLANT PEOPLE:  Again, back by popular demand!  Using crafting supplies, decorate a nylon stocking, fill it with grass seed, and watch the hair on your plant person grow!

There will also be free seeds to take home and plant.
