Christmas tree farm leases and agreements

Wednesday, May 24, 2017 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

It can be expensive to buy land for Christmas tree production. Leasing is a viable alternative. Learn all the nuts
and bolts about leasing land, starting with clear language in the leasing agreements combined with practical
stories from growers who lease and manage Christmas tree fields. Find out what growers can expect to pay,
how to spell out property access, chemical use, condition of property after the lease is over and many other
considerations. Bring your questions, there will be time to get input.

The meeting will start with a 15 minute business meeting for the Pacific Northwest Christmas Tree Association
followed by the evening’s special program on leasing.
Presenters: Nellie McAdams, attorney and Farm Preservation Director for Rogue Farm Corps will guide you
through important considerations and formats for lease documents. Jim Puff, President of Northwest Evergreen, Inc. will share his experience with leasing. Jay Kittams owner of Hilltop Trees, will highlight his experiences
with leasing land and managing Christmas tree production.

There is no fee but registration is required by May 22. Send in the registration form on page 11 or contact Jean
Bremer at 503-655-8631 or jean.bremer@oregonstate.edu.
