Learn about Caving in the Pacific Northwest

Meeting of the Willamette Valley Grotto

Friday, May 12, 2017 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM

Learn about how you can be involved in caving projects in the Pacific Northwest and beyond with The Willamette Valley Grotto, a chapter of the National Speleological Society. Our grotto frequently participates in caving projects in Oregon, Washington, and Northern California. In addition to discovering and mapping caves, caving projects sometimes include collaborative research on geology, hydrology, biology, archaeology, microbiology, and other areas of science and conservation.  Many of our members have led or been involved in expeditions around the world, including Peru, Mexico, India, Guatemala, Russia and other countries. Come learn about some of our projects, and how you can learn the skills needed to cave responsibly and safely.
