Phoenix Pollinator Appreciation Day

Picture kids of all ages running around the Park with Butterfly nets! Phoenix Bee City USA presents "Phoenix' Pollinator Appreciation Day" - Saturday, June 10. This year the theme is "Citizen Science" with OSU Scientist, and all around nice guy, Dr. Andony Melathopoulos, who will show kids and families in the community how to do a pollinator count. The event kicks off at 10:00 AM at the Phoenix Grange at 209 N. Main St. in Phoenix, OR. where Dr. Melathopoulos will show kids and families how to look for pollinators. Then, at 11:00 AM the group will do a Pollinator Count activity in which the community is invited to participate in finding and identifying pollinators. At 12:00, the Jackson County Fire Department #5 will prepare Hot Dogs and other refreshments and at 1:00 PM, Dr. Melathopoulos and volunteers will report the results of the observations to the community. There will be kids' crafts and everyone is invited to "Dress like a Scientist". Kids who do will be eligible for a special drawing! Exhibitors will also be present to inform the public about how their service or organization contributes to sustainability or conservation.
