Frame Field Design in Volumes and Connectivity Editing for Hexahedral Meshes
Remeshing a volume mesh with desired geometric properties is a challenging task. In this regard, I plan to develop an interactive tool for designing anisotropic frame field in volumes. With an input dihedral symmetry group and boundary condition for the surface such that the preferred direction of the frame aligns the surface normal, the system will generate a smooth frame field in the volume. This frame field will then be used for applications like 3D tiling and texturing and anisotropic remeshing of the volume. I also plan to develop a tool that will help in improving the quality of an input hexahedral mesh directly by propagating the surface based connectivity editing optimization for quadrilateral mesh inside the volume. Thus, even without any prior knowledge about the history of the input hexahedral mesh development, the user can modify it to optimize its topology and generate a high-quality hexahedral mesh.
