Food Evolution

Documentary Film

Thursday, September 28, 2017 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM

A new documentary, Food Evolution, directed by Scott Hamilton Kennedy (The Garden) and narrated by Neil Degrasse Tyson, shows how easily misinformation, confusion and fear can overwhelm objective analysis.  Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t654yDVlDpo

  • How do we ensure that our food supply is safe, and that everyone has enough to eat?
  • How do we feed the world while also protecting the planet?
  • Has genetic engineering increased or decreased pesticide use?
  • Are GMO foods bad for your health?
  • And, most importantly, what data, evidence and sources are we using to approach these important questions?

Please join us (hosted by the Food Sci. and Tech. Department) for a special screening of this important work.  The movie will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Prof. Steve Strauss (Forestry), Zak Wiegand (Oregon Tilth), and Prof. Chris Mundt (Botany & Plant Pathology).  There is no admission charge and the screening is open to all members of the OSU community.
