Altered fire regimes and positive feedbacks: lessons from temperate southern hemisphere's forests

Friday, October 13, 2017 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Dr. Holz’s lecture will explore landscapes in the southern hemisphere temperate forests that are characterized by the simultaneous existence of fire-driven alternative stable states and are vulnerable to rapid and extensive changes in ecosystem states.

Dr. Holz is an Assistant Professor and the director of the Global Environmental Change Lab at Portland State University. He investigates landscape-scale drivers of ecosystem change with a major focus on wildfire. Photos courtesy of Dr. Holz’s website https://sites.google.com/a/pdx.edu/gec_lab/home
