Torill Larsen, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Human Development and is on the faculty in Psychology at the University of Bergen.

She has extensive experience with evaluation and implementation research within health promotion among children and youth. Her research interest and expertise also include socio-emotional learning in school, physical activity in children and adolescents, mental health promotion in schools, health promoting nursing, and cancer rehabilitation.

She served as Vice President for the International Alliance for Child and Adolescent Mental Health in Schools Society and as a member of the core development team for developing the international SMHILE (School Mental Health International Leadership Exchange) network launched at the 8th World Congress on Mental Health Promotion in London in September 2014.

In addition she serves as a consultant for NGO`s, as well as educational and health authorities.

The college-wide research seminar is Co-Sponsored by the CPHHS Research Office; the Hallie Ford Center; the Center for Healthy Aging; the Moore Family Center for Whole Grain Foods, Nutrition and Preventive Health; and the Center for Global Health.

The seminar is Co-sponsored with the Human Development and Family Sciences Program.

The seminar series provides a forum for faculty in the College of Public Health & Human Sciences and other researchers to present and discuss current research topics in an environment conducive to stimulating research collaboration and fostering student learning. Faculty and students from the Division of Health Sciences and other colleges, research centers and institutions are encouraged to participate.

We also encourage you to attend this Friday’s Music a' la Carte “Cameron O'Connor (Classical Guitar)” to enjoy a Friday with both Art & Science! This free, lunch-hour concert series has been a tradition at Oregon State University since 1969 and features a variety of OSU music ensembles, faculty and student musicians, as well as regional, national and international guest artists. The concerts take place in the beautiful Memorial Union Lounge, beginning at 12 pm and lasting for approximately 45 minutes
