Millennials in Agriculture: Taking Over the Farm

Wednesday, February 7, 2018 7:30 AM - 9:30 AM

The millennial generation accounts for over one-third of the active workforce in the United States. With the average age of Oregon farm operators at an all time high and some estimates showing that as much as 64% of Oregon's farmland will change ownership in the next two decades, millennial involvement in agriculture is set to increase rapidly.

With a younger generation comes new ideas, values, and ways of working. How do you best incorporate younger generations into the farm business while maintaining the culture and values that have made the business successful to date? How can members of multiple generations work together effectively in the family agricultural business? This seminar, featuring Mark Wickman of Family Business Counsel, will explore the growing millennial workforce in family agriculture, and how to approach generational differences to stay productive and reduce conflict.
