The Taming

Friday, February 16, 2018 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Oregon State University Theatre’s 2017-2018 Season: In the Public Eye, continues with Lauren Gunderson’s wild political comedy, The Taming. Performances will run on the Withycombe Hall Lab Theatre February 15-17 at 7:30 pm and February 18 at 2:00 pm. Withycombe Hall is located at 30th and Campus Way on the Oregon State University Corvallis Campus.

When Republican operative, Patricia finds herself inexplicably locked in a hotel room during the Miss America pageant with liberal blogger, Bianca, sparks fly and views are tested. Lauren Gunderson’s witty, fast-paced comedy explores the intersections of history, gender, and the very founding of the United States with her characteristic style. This story, very loosely based on Taming of the Shrew features OSU students Lindsey Esch as Katherine, Nicole Moussa as Patricia, and Alessandra Ferriso as Bianca.

Director and OSU Theatre student, PJ Harris, describes this production as a funny and  “involved examination of what ‘patriotism’ means when fighting across party lines. It’s a story of self-fulfillment, accepting change, and making the impossibilities of becoming complacent your platform for a brighter future.”

Tickets are $8 General Admission, $6 Senior, $5 Youth/Student, and $4 OSU Student and are available through the OSU Theatre Box Office by calling 541-737-2784. Contact the box office for DAS accommodations and/or group ticket sales.

Tickets may be purchased online starting January 29 at http://liberalarts.oregonstate.edu/school-arts-and-communication/theatre/university-theatre/box-officetickets
