More than 68% Americans share their home with canine and/or feline family members. We share our home with them - but who are they really? Has the bond between humans and pets shaped their physical and behavior traits? We look forward to coming home to their excited faces. Does their companionship affect our physical and emotional health?

Come learn how researchers from Oregon State University and around the world have started to answer these questions and discover how Oregon State University Extension is incorporating these findings into our communities.

Bring your family members, another Beaver or a friend with an interest in this topic.

Pricing includes appetizers and nonalcoholic drinks. Attendees over 21 will receive one ticket good for one beer or wine.

About the Speaker

Kristen Moore was born and raised on sweet tea and grits in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her love for animals started at a very young age and motivated her to pursue Animal Science degrees at North Carolina State University and Cornell University.

During her career as an Animal Scientist, she has worked with pigs, cows, fruit flies, sheep, and mice. She also has extensive experience with companion pets working at a local animal shelter, rescue groups, and a pet food retailer.

Any time spent away from the laboratory bench, she engaged with local youth in fisculated cow workshops, which sparked her career path for engaging youth in Animal Science. At Oregon State University, Kristen is developing a new 4-H Companion Pet program.
