In the week of April 28, Oregon State University will for the twenty-second consecutive year observe Holocaust Memorial Week. The university, in association with the City of Corvallis and School
District 509-J, has undertaken this obligation in the belief that educational institutions can do much to combat bigotry of all kinds, and to foster respect for diversity, by promoting an awareness
of the Holocaust, one of the most horrific historical indicators of the high cost of prejudice. Many of the key events during Holocaust Memorial Week take place on campus, but the observances
regularly include events in local middle and high schools that relate to Holocaust themes and are age appropriate. While the Holocaust is the main focus of the annual program, Memorial Week regularly
includes an event that is devoted to a different episode of genocide or mass murder. In the upcoming observances, that event will focus on the Armenian Genocide of 1915-16. This year, the main events
on campus, all of which are free and open to the public, are listed below, as is an event that will take place at Crescent Valley High School. Those who desire more information on these events or on
the OSU Holocaust Memorial Program should contact Paul Kopperman, chair of the Holocaust Memorial Committee, at or consult the program website http://oregonstate.edu/dept/holocaust/program/
