"Dreaming in Hanoi: ART’s Production Of Dream in Vietnam"

Friday, July 25, 2008 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

"Dreaming in Hanoi: ART’s Production Of Dream in Vietnam" presented by Allen Nosse, the Artistic Director of Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland. This lecture will detail Allen's experiences directing a bi-cultural and bi-lingual production of A Midsummer Night's Dream as part of the National Endowment for the Arts Shakespeare in American Communities program.

Oregon State University Theatre hosts the second annual "Bard in the Quad" Lecture Series from July 16 - August 1, 2008 to coincide with the outdoor performance of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. The Lecture Series is designed to explore the larger artistic and academic issues presented by Shakespeare's work. The theme of the 2008 Lecture Series is "Visualizing Shakespeare: The Bard By Design" and will examine the ways in which directors, artists, social events, and political institutions can influence modern performances of Shakespeare's work.

The lectures are free and open to the public, take place each Wednesday and Friday evenings of the performance run (from July 16 - August 1) at 6:00pm in Milam Hall Room 318 on the OSU Campus. The lectures last approximately 1 hour and attendees are encouraged to leave the lectures and then attend that evening's performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
