Abstract: For the last 50 years, acres of crops harvested and farm size have decreased steadily by over 50% in Lincoln County. The definition of small farms has changed dramatically to include people
farming on less than one acre and still able to support the ever rising demand for local food and fiber in the county. Ag extension programs are based on continually assessing and addressing evolving
local needs that cover a wide array of products ranging from soil fertility forage production, agroforestry, fruit and berry production as well as fresh produce production & marketing. These
needs dictate areas for local research to provide useful data for growers on an on-going basis.
