The College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences and International Programs invite all faculty to a presentation and discussion:
NSF Partnerships in International Research and Education (PIRE) Program and Grant Opportunity
Presented by Dr. Kelly K. Falkner, Program Director, National Science Foundation
Dr. Falkner will discuss NSF’s Partnerships in International Research and Education (PIRE) grant program. Support of international activities is integral to NSF's mission to sustain and strengthen the nation's science, mathematics, and engineering capabilities and to promote use of those capabilities in service to society. NSF recognizes the importance of enabling U. S. researchers and educators to advance their work through international collaborations to help ensure that future generations of U. S. scientists and engineers gain professional experience beyond this nation's borders early in their careers.
The PIRE program provides an opportunity for U. S. universities to address these objectives. The outcome of the 2005 and 2007 PIRE competitions and anticipated conditions of the 2009 competition will be reviewed. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.
Refreshments provided. Polycom to Hatfield Marine Science Center available upon request.
