J. Gary Linn of Tennessee State University’s Center for Health Research will be at OSU October 13 to present a sociologist’s perspective on HIV/AIDS treatment in rural Mozambique.
Linn will address the International Health Club from 10-11 a.m. in the MU Board Room, and the International Programs Faculty Brown Bag Seminar from noon-1 p.m.
Linn has worked for the last three years in the rural Zambezia Province of Mozambique, which has HIV prevalence rates of 18 to 20 percent. He will report on conditions in the rural parts of Mozambique, including the recent introduction of anti-retroviral therapy in the area, and the consequences for the health care infrastructure.
