Abstract - Harmful algal blooms (HABs) are increasing in frequency and distribution world wide. Oregon is no exception, so far this year the Oregon Department of Health and Human Services has issued
12 advisories for toxic algal blooms in lakes and reservoirs, which is more than any previous year. This presentation will provide a general introduction to the organisms responsible, and the threats
they pose to humans, animals and ecosystem function.
