The Tri-County Wool Pool Board of Directors recently announced the sale of the 2009 wool crop. The Tri-County Wool Pool is a cooperative marketing opportunity for small and medium size wool producers throughout northeast Oregon. The Pool receives small lots of wool and assembles them into large truckload lots of wool that can attract bids from wool buyers throughout the country.
The Tri-County Pool will receive wool on Saturday, July 11, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Union County Fairgrounds in LaGrande. No pre-registration is required. Utah Wool of Salt Lake City, UT was the successful bidder on the Pool and will pay the following prices: whiteface wool (fine wool) - $0.52/lb, blackface wool - $0.32/lb, lamb wool - $0.25/lb, black wool - $0.08/lb, belly wool - $0.20/lb, and tags $0.10/lb. Belly wool should be separated from fleece wool. There will be a 10% deduction for tied wool or for the presence of polypropylene. Short and 6 months wool will be half price of white face and black face. “Ears” should be tied on both ends of each wool sack.
