Organic Training Opportunity for Professionals

Sunday, August 9, 2009 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Fostering Healthy Food Systems Through Organic Agriculture

Do you work for a distributor, food service provider or retailer that is interested in supporting regional and organic foods? Oregon Tilth is providing an opportunity for you and your staff to learn more about organic farming and connect with other professionals working to support a regionally based organic food economy. Attend this training to learn the principles and practices of organic farming and how food gets from the soil to the plate.

An overview of organic certification will highlight the process behind certified organic products and what’s behind the label. As part of this unique training, you will have a chance to network with others working to promote organic food, and apply what you learn through hands-on activities in our demonstration garden.

Distributors, food service staff and retailers represent key hubs in the food system by providing food to many eaters each and every day. With rising interest and demand for organic and local food, this training will help professionals become not only sources of more sustainable food, but also educational resources for the information and stories behind sustainable food systems. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited so sign-up soon!
