The College of Oceanic & Atmospheric Sciences will host a reunion of OSU's discoverers of deep sea hydrothermal vents. The incredible discovery of warm springs and exotic life on the ocean floor was made in 1977 near the Galapagos Islands by a team of scientists led by OSU oceanographer Jack Corliss. Corliss will visit OSU on Nov. 3, 2009 and other members of the discovery team will participate in a reunion.
The event will take place on Tue., 3 Nov. from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in OSU's Burt Hall Room 193 on the corner of SW 26th Street, Arnold Way, and Monroe Avenue. There will be displays about the discovery, statements by the discoverers, a presentation of a commemorative casting to Jack Corliss, and refreshments. The OSU community is invited to this event.
