In the world today, renewable energy has become a very hot topic. With increasing global pollution, rising oil costs, and resources being depleted more rapidly every day, renewable alternatives are continually being researched [1]. Over the years, it has become apparent that there is a very large energy potential off the Oregon Coast. However, with the large opportunity also comes large survivability and maintenance issues, and understanding and addressing these issues are of key importance to ensuring the success of this renewable industry [1]. Therefore, this study endeavors to test the relevancy of life extending control algorithms in the WEC industry, and start making strides in conquering the challenging maintenance and survivability issues.
