An 83dB 10MHz Continuous-Time DSM for Wireless Communication Systems
Extensive research has been investigated on delta-sigma modulators (DSMs) for wideband high-resolution wired or wireless communication systems.

An 83dB continuous-time DSM with 10MHz signal bandwidth is synthesized at the 240MHz sampling frequency. A novel 5th-order loop filter is implemented with the feed-forward structure based on “twin-T” network, reducing the number of integrators to enhance the power efficiency. The excess loop delay is absorbed within a clock delay in the feedback DAC path. To tackle the problem of process variation, a 4-bit switchable array of capacitor tuning is adopted. Multi-bit switched-capacitor-resistor (SCR) DAC alleviates the jitter sensitivity. DWA algorithm suppresses the in-band noise caused by the DAC element mismatch.
