Leadership: Leading the Community, Leading for Life

Speaker: Captain Fred Harvey

Fred Harvey is a Marine Corps Captain, Husband, and Father of three children. He is currently serving as the Officer Selection Officer (OSO) for Oregon and Alaska. As the OSO, he is responsible for preparing college students and graduates for a future of leadership and ensuring that they are mentally, physically, and morally qualified for service as Marine Corps Officers.

Prior to OSO Duty, Captain Harvey spent 5 years as an Aircraft Commander, Section Leader, and Functional Test Pilot with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 464. During this time, he deployed overseas to Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He has served as the Officer in Charge of various work sections to include Supply, Administration, Intelligence, Operations, and Maintenance.

Captain Harvey earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the US Naval Academy and is also a graduate of The Basic School, Flight School, and Expeditionary Warfare School.
