2013 Sediment Symposium

Quantifying In-Stream Sediment and Biotic Responses

Thursday, January 24, 2013 (All Day Event)

At this symposium, leading researchers will review and summarize our overall understanding of current scientific knowledge of in-stream sediment.  The amount of in-stream sediment varies considerably across landscapes and over time. There is great concern regarding the effects of excessive stream sediment on aquatic communities. Researchers and managers have been working to determine appropriate means for monitoring and measuring sediment and preventing negative effects on in-stream biota, while understanding the contributions of different sources and developing guidelines for separating anthropogenic from non-anthropogenic sources.
