At this symposium, leading researchers will review and summarize our overall understanding of current scientific knowledge of in-stream sediment. They will address topics including:

• How do we characterize the type and amount of sediment in streams?
• How much is too much for in-stream biota?
• Can we separate natural delivery of sediment from anthropogenic activities? 
•  Where are the major gaps in our understanding of sediment dynamics and responses?
