In summer 2013, join a group of students traveling from Oregon to Japan to learn about the challenges facing rural communities in both countries. Traveling and working together in rural Oregon and Japan, students will immerse themselves in collaborative, project-based coursework that will build cross cultural connections and understanding. Students will investigate the social, economic and ecological issues that affect rural communities: aging population, outmigration of youth, rural poverty, and the interplay of industry and environment.
