Afghan Agriculture: Past, Present and Future Prospects - Presented by Dr. Kaush Arha

Dr. Arha served as the Senior Advisor Transition & Senior Coordinator Agriculture at the US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan  from 2010 -12, where he advised Embassy leadership on all aspects of Transition to Afghan Lead by 2014 with particular attention to US strategy for economic development assistance and coordinated inter-agency assistance to the Afghan agricultural sector.  Prior to that Dr. Arha served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Fish, Wildlife & Parks at the Dept. of the Interior. He also served as the Associate Solicitor General – Indian Affairs at the Dept. of Interior. Previously he served as Senior Advisor for Species Conservation & Director, Private Lands Public Wildlife Conservation Program for the state of Wyoming.  He practiced law at Latham & Watkins LLP.  Dr. Arha has advised national governments, multinational organizations and international conservation organizations on energy, mining, agriculture, climate change, environment and natural resource law, policy and institutions.  He received his JD from Stanford University; Ph.D. in Wildland Resource Science & M.Sc. in Agricultural & Resource Economics from Univ. of California Berkeley; M.A. in Energy & Resource Management from Boston University and B.A. Honors in History and Political Science from St. Stephen’s College.
