OSU Holocaust Memorial Week 2013

Monday, April 8, 2013 - Friday, April 12, 2013 (All Day Event)

April 2013 will see the twenty-seventh annual observance of Holocaust Memorial Week at Oregon State University.  As in past years, the university, in association with the City of Corvallis and School District 509-J, is undertaking this obligation in the belief that educational institutions can do much to combat bigotry of all kinds, and to foster respect for diversity, by promoting an awareness of the Holocaust, one of the most horrific historical indicators of the high cost of prejudice. Many of the key events during Holocaust Memorial Week take place on campus, but the observances regularly include events in local middle and high schools that relate to Holocaust themes and are age appropriate.  While the Holocaust is the main focus of the annual program, Memorial Week regularly includes events that are devoted to a different genocidal campaign or to comparative genocide.  The annual program is organized by the Holocaust Memorial Committee, which is based in the School of History, Philosophy, and Religion.

All events on campus are free and open to the public.  Those with questions about HMW 2013 or about the OSU Holocaust Program may contact Paul Kopperman (pkopperman@oregonstate.edu) or the OSU Department of History (541-737-3421), or check out the website of the Holocaust Program, http://oregonstate.edu/holocaust.
