Monday, July 8, 2013 (All Day Event)

For the very first time, Forestry 365 (Issues in Natural Resources Conservation) will be taught online via E-campus for 9 weeks followed by a 10 day field excursion to Costa Rica (Dec 12-22)  where the final lessons of the course will be explored hands-on.

In Costa Rica, the class will travel to the Caribbean Coastal Plain, up and around the volcanic spine of Central America, to the Pacific Coast.  Along the way they will explore fruit and coffee plantations, the Cloud Forests (Bosques Nubosos), and learn about sea turtle conservation. Throughout the time abroad the course will discuss and debate global perspectives of the environmental, economic, and social issues that were introduced during the online class portion. While in Costa Rica, the group will be hosted by the Monteverde Institute.

This three credit Bacc Core course is open to all OSU students, regardless of major, and will be taught online and led in Costa Rica by Dr. Ron Reuter from the OSU Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society.
