Summer Tour - Got Poles?

Douglas Small Woodlands Association

Wednesday, July 31, 2013 8:45 AM - 3:30 PM

Does your timber stand have enough distribution or transmission poles to warrant adding value to your operation?

Which lengths and diameters bring the highest values?  How much sap wood is required?  How much sweep is allowed?  What is the delivery point?  Does pole logging cost more?

This is your chance to learn, from the experts, the qualifications for marketing poles.

We will be touring an active pre-pole logging operation on Mt. Scott followed by a tour of McFarland Cascade's pole facility in Wilber, OR.  McFarland Cascade started in the pole business in 1916 in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Sutherlin, OR - Ray's Market (closed down) parking lot located on the west side of I-5 behind Dairy Queen.  Transportation from Sutherlin provided.
