Dr. Nestle explores the social, cultural, economic and institutional factors that affect what, how much and when we eat. How much is controlled by individual decisions and responsibility? To what
extent do food company marketing and government policy exert their influence? Marion Nestle is the author of numerous academic and popular press books [What to Eat?, Safe Food, Food Politics] and
publications. She is the Paulette Goddard Professor of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health at New York University, holding a Ph.D. in molecular biology and an M.P.H. in public health
nutrition, both from the University of California, Berkeley. Her research, always compelling and at time controversial, focuses on analysis of the scientific, social, cultural, and economic factors
that influence the development, implementation, and acceptance of federal dietary guidance policies.
