This class covers the most important aspects of the poultry business. Jim Hermes topics include: optimizing egg production, nutrition on pasture, alternative feeds for specialty markets and lower costs, common diseases in larger flocks. Anna Hyde addresses obtaining and maintaining your Egg Handlers License and the laws regarding selling and grading eggs, wholesaling, facility requirements, food safety and egg cleaning methods. Larry Martin gives you a producer’s perspective (pros and cons), his top 10 profit tips and lessons he has learned. Complete the day with a tour of Standing Stone Farm.
