Literary Northwest Series

A reading by Natalie Serber & Jay Ponteri

Natalie Serber is the author of the story collection Shout Her Lovely Name (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2012) a New York Times 100 “Notable Books” of 2012 and a summer reading pick from O, the Oprah Magazine. Her fiction has appeared in The Bellingham Review, Fourth Genre, Gulf Coast, Inkwell, Hunger Mountain.  Essays and reviews have appeared at, The Rumpus, The New York Times, Salon, The Oregonian and Hunger Mountain.  Natalie received an MFA from Warren Wilson College. She teaches writing at Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon, and she is currently working on a novel set in Boring, Oregon. 

Jay Ponteri directs the undergraduate creative writing program at Marylhurst University and Show:Tell, The Workshop for Teen Writers & Artists. He is the founding editor of both the online literary magazine M Review and HABIT Books, a publisher of prose and poetry chapbooks. His memoir, Wedlocked, was published by Hawthorne Books. His chapbook of short prose, Darkmouth Strikes Again, is being published by Future Tense Books, summer 2014. His essay “Listen to this” was mentioned as a Notable Essay in Best American Essays 2010. He has published prose in Del Sol ReviewSeattle Review, SalamanderCimarron ReviewPuerto Del Sol, Forklift, Ohio, and Ghost Proposal among others.
