Kapstone Mill Tour

Saturday, October 12, 2013 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Kapstone, formerly known as Longview Fibre papermill, has over 1,000 employees and is known for producing high-strength, multi-wall kraft paper used to make bags for cement and cement materials.  The mill has the capacity to produce 1.6 million tons of pulp and 1.3 million tons of kraft paper and container board on five paper machines.  The Kapstone mill is one of the very few mills which accept "dirty" chips.  These are produced when wood is chipped with the bark remaining on the log.  A number of CCSWA members have had their harvest chipped and sold to the mill in Longview.

The mill will supply protective eyewear, safety vests and hard hats.  Sturdy, closed-toe work shoes or boots are REQUIRED.  Please be preared for inclement weather as the tour includes outdoor areas.

Reservations are required for the tour and lunch.  LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE.  Please RSVP with your name, number in your party and telephone number, no later than October 7th.  email:  globe_trotters@comcast.net or phone 503-644-0106 - Michael and Debra Booth.
