Measuring Your Trees

Thursday, October 24, 2013 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Know what you've got on your property:  The primary element required in any woodland management planning.

Join us in the field session that introduces the "latest/greatest" computer program for measuring your trees.  Replacing the computer program Varplot, Extension Manual (EM) 9059:  Measuring Your Trees gives you all the computations of the retired program, but in an extremely user-friendly Excel format.

In our field session, we will take you through the basics of how to properly establish and record plot data and record that information into EM 9059:  Measuring Your Trees Workbook.  These exercises will be done on-site, so we will take you through the entire process of recording plot data all the way to generating the results.

EM 9059:  Measuring Your Trees Workbook will give you loads of valuable information, including:

Trees per acre; Scribner board foot and cubic log volume per acre; basal area; average stand diameter; growth projection factor and future stand volumes; mean and periodic annual increments; stand density index (SDI) and relative density (RD); and more....

We will also supply you with a cd of the computer program along with a copy of the manual.  This will be a very valuable and informative program and strong recommend you consider joing us this October 24th.

Speakers:  Steve Bowers, Douglas County Forestry Agent and Raini Rippi, Natural Resources/Small Farms
