Reforestation project on the way?  There's more to planting trees other than "green side up."  Is your tree native to the region?  Is it suited to the area?  Whether a tree is going to survive and thrive for years to come depends on a number of factors, including:

Species; sun or shade tolerant; soil quality; water; susceptibility to insect & disease; animal issues; seedling availablity; stock type.

What you need to know about getting young trees to grow.  We'll cover planting techniques, tools for different applications, seedling types and slection criteria, and the Oregon Forest Practices Rules that apply to reforestation.

Copies of the Establishing and Managing Forest Trees in Western Oregon and Oregon Department of Forestry's Sources of Native Forest Nursery Seedlings will be made available to participants.
