Climate Club Brown Bag Lunch

Braiding Disciplines

Friday, January 17, 2014 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

The Oregon Climate Change Research Institute (OCCRI) and the Environmental Arts and Humanities Initiative (EAHI) are sponsoring a series of "braided lectures" designed to spur conversations about climate change among people of different academic backgrounds.

Oceanographer Alan Mix and environmental ethicist Kathleen Dean Moore will address ethical decisions, addressing uncertainties, and honorable adaptive strategies in the light of climate change.

This is a great opportunity to get a primer on how other disciplines study climate change, learn about the latest findings in climate change research and scholarship, and meet colleagues interested in interdisciplinary collaboration.

The braided lecture series is following on the footsteps of 2012-2013's successful "Climate-Club Sandwich Lunches," which featured three, ten-minute talks from speakers in the humanities, physical sciences, and social sciences. This fall OCCRI and EAHI teamed up for a "Fall Climate Social"

focusing on "climate success stories," which included a 'braided' presentation by Phil Mote and philosophy professor Allen Thompson.

Please bring your own lunch. Coffee, tea, dessert will be provided.
