"The Resurrection of Jesus: An Article of Faith or a Fact of History?"

A Socratic Club debate

Thursday, February 20, 2014 7:00 PM - 9:15 PM

The Resurrection of Jesus means different things to different people.  For some it is a foundation of faith, proof of God's immense love for us and his sovereignty over all creation.  Others consider it a myth or even a fabrication, claiming there is no reason to consider the New Testament sources that describe it as historical.  Two scholars will present divergent views.

The speakers are Craig Blomberg and Carl Stecher.  Craig Blomberg is Distinguished Professor of New Testament at Denver Seminary.  He holds a PhD in New Testament from Aberdeen University in Scotland.  He is the author of 20 books, including "The Historical Reliability of the Gospels."  Carl Stecher is Professor Emeritus of Literature at Salem State University in Massachusetts.  He earned his PhD from the University of Connecticut.  He is the co-author of "God Questions."

For those who can't attend, a live stream of the event will be available for viewing through KBVR at http://live.oregonstate.edu
