DESCRIPTION:<p>\n  <strong>“Disability in Public Health\, Health Disparit
 ies\, and the Life Course”</strong> Gloria Krahn\, PhD\, MPH Director\, D
 ivision of Human Development and Disability at the National Center on Birth
 \n  Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) at the Centers for Dise
 ase Control and Prevention.\n</p>\n<p>\n  Dr. Krahn is widely regarded as a
  national and international expert in the field of disability and public he
 alth. Her publications and lectures have bridged the fields of child develo
 pment\,\n  childhood-onset disability\, health status measurement and healt
 h promotion among adults with disabilities.\n</p>\n<p>\n  She joined the CD
 C after 25 years as an academic clinician\, researcher\, teacher and admini
 strator. Her early work in child development was followed by an interest in
  disabilities and development\n  across the lifespan.\,\n</p>\n<p>\n  Dr. K
 rahn's research has been funded by the NIH\, the U.S. Department of Educati
 on\, the Maternal and Child Health Bureau at HRSA\, and the CDC. Dr. Krahn 
 is the author of numerous publications\n  related to disability and child d
 evelopment\, and she is the co-editor of the first major textbook on Disabi
 lity and Public Health.\n</p>\n<p>\n  Dr. Krahn has served in a variety of 
 leadership roles within organizations addressing disability across the life
 span. She has developed strong collaborative relationships with other unive
 rsities\,\n  with state health departments\, and with local communities. Sh
 e served as President of the Association of University Centers on Disabilit
 ies (AUCD)\, Chair of the Disability Section of the American\n  Public Heal
 th Association\, on the executive committee of the National Associaiton of 
 Rehabilitation Research and Training Centers and as a leader of the Healthy
  People 2010 Disabilities Work Group.\n</p>\n<p>\n  Dr. Krahn received her 
 Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Manitoba\, her M.P.H. from the U
 niversity of California\, Berkley\, and completed a postdoctoral residency 
 in pediatric psychology at\n  Oregon Health &amp\; Science University.\n</p
